Overview

MSW stands for Masters in Social Work. Masters in Social Work can be abbreviated to MSocWk or MSocWork or MSW. Master of Social Work is a technical postgraduate course, that incorporates both macro and micro aspects of professional social work practices in communities, hospitals, schools, and other fields of social services. MSW course duration in India is of 2 years divided into four semesters. 

Candidates can pursue MSW Courses after completing graduation in relevant streams, with at least 50% marks from a recognized university. MSW ADMISSION is done either on the basis of a merit list or an entrance exam. Eligibility for a Master of Social Work is that students must complete graduation in a relevant field. 

MSW is a social science course that is aimed at teaching students to utilize resources to eradicate the problems of society and try to alleviate their suffering through counseling, funds, or different social methods. The course provides specialized knowledge about various subjects related to social work such as Labour Welfare, Human Resource Development & Management, Rural Reconstruction, Child Rights & Child Protection, Community Development, and much more. However, with only a 12.5% female workforce, there has been a gender gap in the field of social work in India. 

The main purpose of presenting the Masters in Social Work program in India is to enable social work practitioners to develop sensitivity, cultivate rights-based perspective, values, and ethics, learn research skills, and build skills and competencies required for effective social work intervention in society in different sectors, ranging from child welfare to sociology.

Community Work Community work focuses on participation and promotes empowerment, liberation, and change through collective action.
History and Philosophy of Social Work The philosophical underpinnings of social work can be instrumental in examining the ultimate realities of social work concepts, principles, and values.
Field Work This course helps students to do practical social in social environment.
Indian Social Problems It deals with the social problems that exist in India and its solutions.

Environment and Disaster Management Disaster management refers to the management or conservation of lives and property that occurs during natural or human-made disasters.
Development Theory and Practice It introduces students to the development theory, a body of research and theory on economic and political development. Developmental theory refers to the study and writing of results from research efforts
Poverty and Livelihood This subject examines the livelihoods, poverty and lives of the poor, and how inequality is related in different ways to climate change, climate change and extreme events. It looks at current climate change impacts, proposed impacts through 2100, and how climate change responses affect lives and poverty.
Psychology for Social Work This subjects deals with psychological aspects of social environment.
Field Work This subject helps students to do practical social activities in social environment.
Social Development in India This subject helps students to learn efforts of Inidan government to establish extensive social welfare system.

Social Welfare Management This subjects aims to make students understan different aspectsc of social welfare managment
Dissertation A thesis or dissertation is a lengthy academic text based on original research, submitted as part of an undergraduate or graduate degree.
